Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari Criticizes PPP, Calls for Consistency on Administrative Units
LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), accusing it of avoiding accountability over its performance and adopting double standards on administrative and political issues.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Bukhari alleged that the PPP has left the people of Karachi at the mercy of the water tanker mafia while simultaneously promoting what she described as a false narrative against the federal government.
She said that during the previous floods, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had advised people to seek charitable donations, whereas Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz utilized provincial resources to carry out relief efforts. Bukhari claimed that the federal government did not provide support for those initiatives.
The Punjab Information Minister further remarked that political complaints have become a habit for the PPP, adding that if the political temperature is lowered by the opposing side, her party would also respond in a conciliatory manner.
Questioning the state of healthcare services in Sindh, she asked why provincial ministers seek medical treatment abroad if the hospitals in Sindh are as efficient as claimed.
Speaking about southern Punjab, Bukhari said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is giving special attention to the region’s development. She accused the PPP of using the issue of South Punjab for political purposes and maintaining different standards for itself and its political opponents.
“It cannot be that you play the South Punjab card while opposing the creation of administrative units in Sindh,” she said, calling for consistency in the party’s political stance on administrative reforms.
The remarks reflect ongoing political differences between the Punjab government and the PPP over governance, regional development, and administrative policies.
