Islamabad: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has expressed concern over the recent speech of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying it is contributing to rising political tensions at a time when the country needs restraint and careful decision-making.
In a post on the social media platform X, Fawad Chaudhry commented on Fazlur Rehman’s address at the JUI Lawyers Forum convention, stating that the speech and its tone were adding to the bitterness in Pakistan’s political environment. He said the current situation required patience and moderation rather than further escalation.

Addressing the country’s decision-makers, Chaudhry urged them to approach the ongoing political and constitutional crisis with a calm and measured mindset. He argued that the political atmosphere had become so polarized that anyone advocating reason or dialogue was being unfairly targeted.
The former minister also criticized the role of the country’s mainstream political parties, claiming they had largely left the political and constitutional confrontation to the establishment while distancing themselves from the crisis. He warned that Pakistan was already facing serious challenges and that any further escalation of political tensions could have severe consequences.
Fawad Chaudhry’s remarks represent his political opinion on the current situation. The individuals and institutions mentioned in his statement had not publicly responded to his comments at the time of publication.
