Rain System Enters Punjab Including Lahore; Light Rain and Snowfall Expected in Coming Days

Lahore: A weather system bringing rain has entered Punjab, including the provincial capital Lahore, raising expectations of rainfall and snowfall in various parts of the province.

According to the Meteorological Department, the rain-bearing system has moved into Lahore and other areas of Punjab. However, due to its weak intensity, today is likely to pass with cloudy conditions along with fog and mist in several regions.

Weather experts said there is a possibility of light rain in Lahore and other districts of the province tomorrow. They added that the expected rainfall may provide relief to citizens from seasonal illnesses such as flu, cough, cold, and fever, which have spread due to prolonged dry weather.

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that rain accompanied by thunder and snowfall is expected in the province’s hilly areas. Rain and snowfall are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and the Potohar region. Additionally, light rain is forecast in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh between December 20 and 21.

Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said the expected rains would help reduce fog and smog conditions. He advised citizens to use face masks to protect themselves from smog and to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

He further said that the PDMA control room is monitoring the situation round the clock, while facilitation centers have been established in Murree for tourists. In case of any emergency, citizens have been advised to contact PDMA helpline 1129.
