Balochistan Government Proposes Increase in Compensation for Police Martyrs’ Families

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to increase the compensation package for the families of police martyrs, including higher cash payments in lieu of residential plots or land. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has sought a summary for formal approval of the proposed revisions.

According to Shahid Rind, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information and Political Affairs, the decision was made on the instructions of the chief minister to further strengthen the financial assistance package for the families of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Under the proposed revision, the cash compensation for the families of police martyrs in Grades BPS-1 to BPS-16, including constables, head constables, assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), sub-inspectors, and inspectors, would increase from Rs. 10 million to Rs. 12.5 million.

The proposal also recommends raising the cash payment provided in place of a residential plot or land for BPS-1 to BPS-8 personnel, including constables and head constables, from Rs. 1.1 million to Rs. 2.5 million.

Shahid Rind said Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti believes that security personnel who sacrifice their lives in the fight against terrorism are a source of pride for the nation, and that supporting the financial welfare of their families is one of the government’s foremost responsibilities.

He added that the Balochistan government remains committed to the welfare of the families of martyrs, and the proposed increase in compensation reflects that commitment. The revised package will take effect after receiving the required official approvals.
