Pakistan Stock Exchange Plunges as US-Iran Conflict Weighs on Markets

Islamabad: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) suffered a sharp decline on Monday as investor sentiment remained under pressure amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
Trading opened in negative territory for the second consecutive session, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index witnessing heavy selling throughout the day.
At one stage during trading, the index dropped by 6,535 points to 173,391, reflecting a decline of approximately 3.6 percent. By the close of the session, the KSE-100 Index had fallen 6,408 points to settle at 173,518.
During the session, around 910 million shares changed hands in transactions worth Rs45 billion. The market’s total capitalization declined by Rs706 billion, ending the day at Rs19.583 trillion.
Meanwhile, growing tensions between the United States and Iran also pushed global oil prices higher, with Brent crude rising to $86.90 per barrel, adding to concerns over the potential economic impact of the regional conflict.
