Imran Khan Directs Party Leadership to Launch Movement Against Government After 10th Muharram

Rawalpindi: Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has instructed the party leadership to initiate a movement against the government after 10th Muharram. Speaking to the media near Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where he was accompanied by his sisters, Imran Khan condemned the government’s actions, stating that the nation was being completely enslaved.
He shared that his sisters were only allowed a 15-minute meeting with him, while his lawyer, Zaheer Abbas, was granted just one and a half minutes, and other prominent PTI figures, including Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja, and Niazullah Niazi, were denied any visitation rights.
Imran Khan expressed concerns about ongoing efforts to sideline the party’s founding leadership, emphasizing that the changes brought about by the 26th Amendment were becoming increasingly evident. “They are stealing your votes and claiming that votes don’t matter. This indicates the arrival of martial law,” Khan said. He further criticized the government for reducing the judiciary to a mere department and undermining the rule of law and ethics in the country.
Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, also weighed in, stating that the founding leadership had pointed out that those sitting in the assemblies did not come through elections. The media’s voice had been suppressed, and a 27th Amendment was being introduced. “It would be better to announce a monarchy, as people’s voices have been completely silenced,” she remarked. She also reminded that Pakistan was founded on the principles of the “Kalima” (the Islamic declaration of faith), and the nation was now being turned into slaves.
Imran Khan asserted that “it is better for me to stay in jail my entire life than to live under such slavery.” He praised the resistance shown in the Punjab Assembly and the opposition leader’s efforts. Khan mentioned that 26 PTI members had been subjected to restrictions but suggested that they form their own assembly outside.
The PTI leadership was urged to prepare for a movement after 10th Muharram, with detailed instructions already communicated to Salman Akram Raja.
Aleema Khan further stated that her brother was being held in solitary confinement, denied basic rights, and even his books were not being provided. According to her, Imran Khan is kept isolated for 22 hours a day, with only two hours allowed for interaction. She confirmed that after 10th Muharram, the party would announce its protest strategy.
