Pakistan Warns Visa Applicants Against Using Illegal Agents, Launches Digital E-Protector System

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has warned citizens seeking foreign visas not to use unauthorized agents for document verification, cautioning that forged documents could lead to visa rejection, deportation, or permanent entry bans.

According to the bureau, reports indicate that some Pakistanis are relying on illegal agents who use fake signatures and forged official stamps to verify visa documents. Authorities warned that applicants may unknowingly become involved in document fraud, putting their visa applications and future travel at serious risk.

The bureau said forged documents commonly include educational certificates, bank statements, and police character certificates. Such fraudulent practices not only jeopardize visa approvals but can also result in legal action by Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), damage the country’s international reputation, and lead to permanent immigration restrictions imposed by foreign countries.

Meanwhile, the government has introduced a new digital E-Protector system to simplify the emigration process for Pakistanis seeking overseas employment.

Under the new online system, job seekers can complete their Protector registration from home using a mobile phone, laptop, or computer without visiting Protector offices or relying on agents.

Officials said applicants can register by accessing the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment’s online portal, entering the required information, uploading employment contracts and supporting documents, and paying the prescribed government fee electronically. Once the payment is verified, the Protector registration will be completed automatically.

The bureau stated that the system has been developed in accordance with the Emigration Ordinance 1979 and other relevant laws. Authorities said the digital platform will save time, improve transparency, reduce opportunities for corruption, and create a comprehensive digital database of overseas Pakistani workers, enabling the government to provide better legal protection and policy support for citizens working abroad.
