KP Govt Increases Compensation for Flood-Hit Homes to Rs 1 Million Amid Widespread Devastation

Peshawar:The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has **significantly increased compensation** for victims of recent **floods and heavy rains**, with payments for **completely destroyed homes raised from Rs 400,000 to Rs 1 million**, following a **high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur** via video link.
During the meeting, which reviewed relief efforts in **flood-affected districts**, the Chief Minister also announced:
* **Partially damaged homes** will now receive **Rs 300,000**, up from Rs 100,000.
* **Owners of vehicles swept away** by floodwaters will receive **Rs 500,000** in compensation.
* **Displaced families** will be given **Rs 15,000** each, along with an additional **Rs 15,000 food package**.
* Compensation for **livestock losses** will be disbursed soon, as per the CM’s directives.
The decision comes in the wake of **devastating monsoon rains and flash floods** that have claimed the lives of **over 300 people across the province**, with **Buner district** being the hardest hit.
Locals in Buner have reported severe **psychological trauma**, stating that the **memories of the deadly floods** keep haunting them. Many survivors are suffering from **insomnia, loss of appetite**, and other **mental health issues** due to the tragedy.
The KP government’s move aims to provide **swift relief and rehabilitation** to affected communities, while also acknowledging the **emotional and financial toll** inflicted by one of the most destructive natural disasters in the province’s recent history.
