Argentina Finish as Top Scoring Team at FIFA World Cup 2026

New Jersey:Argentina emerged as the highest-scoring team of the **2026 FIFA World Cup**, netting **14 goals** during the tournament’s 96 matches, according to foreign media reports.

A total of **280 goals** have been scored across the competition, with **Lionel Messi** leading the scoring charts with **eight goals**. Messi’s overall FIFA World Cup tally has now reached **21 goals**.

For the first time in World Cup history, **three players scored seven or more goals in a single edition** of the tournament. Alongside Messi, **Kylian Mbappé** and **Erling Haaland** each finished with **seven goals**.

Mbappé also extended his record in the World Cup knockout stages, taking his total to **11 knockout goals**.

The report added that the **3,000th goal in FIFA World Cup history** was scored by **Enzo Fernández** during the tournament.

According to a sports statistics website, referees issued **259 yellow cards** and **14 red cards** throughout the competition.
