Egypt Inaugurates World’s Largest Military Headquarters, the ‘Octagon

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Saturday inaugurated Egypt’s new Strategic Command Headquarters, a massive military complex known as the **Octagon** because of its eight interconnected buildings.
The sprawling facility is located in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, approximately 45 kilometers east of Cairo.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President El-Sisi, who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces, described the project as a major advancement in the country’s command, control, and operational management capabilities.

According to Egyptian officials, the Octagon is the world’s largest fully completed military and national security headquarters. The complex reportedly has a usable floor area of approximately 4.7 million square meters and occupies a total site spanning around 22,000 acres.

Officials said the Octagon will serve as the Middle East’s largest defense headquarters, integrating command, control, communications, and artificial intelligence systems within a single strategic complex.
Authorities, however, did not disclose the total cost of the project.
