Suicide Bombing Targets Pakistan Coast Guards Post in Gwadar; Four Security Personnel Killed, 16 Injured

Gwadar/Quetta: At least four security personnel were killed and 16 others injured in a suicide vehicle bombing that targeted a Pakistan Coast Guards post in the Panwan area of Jiwani, Gwadar district, on Friday evening, according to official sources.

Sources said the attack occurred at around 7:00 p.m., when a cargo truck loaded with explosives was driven into the main building of the Coast Guards post before detonating.

The powerful blast destroyed a large section of the security post, with the explosion heard over a wide area and thick smoke rising from the site.

According to initial reports, the dead included three Pakistan Coast Guards personnel and one soldier of the Pakistan Army, while 16 security personnel were injured. One of the injured was reported to be in critical condition.

Officials said a total of 20 personnel, including members of the Pakistan Coast Guards’ 3rd Battalion and the 32nd Unit of the Punjab Regiment, were stationed at the checkpoint, which is located about 10 kilometers from Jiwani town and serves as a key post for monitoring the coastal region.

Following the attack, teams from the Gwadar District Police, the Frontier Corps (FC), and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched rescue and search operations.

The injured personnel were shifted to hospitals in Jiwani and Gwadar, while the critically wounded serviceman was transferred to Gwadar for advanced medical treatment.

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the bombing, and security measures have been further tightened across the area. No group had immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
