Trump Says U.S.-Iran Talks in Doha Making Positive Progress

Washington:U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed the progress in indirect talks between the United States and Iran taking place in Doha, Qatar, saying the discussions have been “very positive” and are moving in the right direction.

Speaking to reporters before boarding the new Air Force One aircraft gifted by Qatar at Joint Base Andrews for his trip to North Dakota, Trump said there had been “very good meetings” between the two sides.

He added that efforts to ensure Iran remains free of nuclear weapons are progressing well, while noting that the outcome of the negotiations remains to be seen.

Referring to the recent military confrontation between the United States and Iran, Trump said the U.S. had taken strong action but emphasized that both countries are now engaging constructively through diplomatic channels.

The indirect negotiations, mediated by Qatar in Doha, are aimed at easing regional tensions following recent exchanges of fire and military escalation between Washington and Tehran.
