EU Questions Meta Over Facebook and Instagram Features Linked to Excessive Scrolling

The **European Union** has raised concerns with **Meta** over several features on **Facebook** and **Instagram** that regulators say encourage users to spend excessive time on the platforms.

According to international media reports, the **European Commission** has asked Meta to modify features such as **infinite scrolling**, **autoplay videos**, and **highly personalized content recommendations**, arguing that they could negatively affect children’s mental health.

The reports said that if Meta is found to be in violation of EU regulations, the company could face fines of up to **6% of its global annual revenue**.

Meta rejected the allegations, saying the European Commission’s report failed to acknowledge the measures it has already implemented to enhance the safety and well-being of young users on its platforms.
