Saif Ali Khan Says His Sons Will Pray, Celebrate Diwali and Christmas, and Respect All Faiths

Islamabad: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has shared his views on raising his children, saying he wants his sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan, to practice their own faith while also respecting other religions and participating in different cultural and religious celebrations.

Speaking at an event in London, Saif said he openly discusses religion with his sons. Although he does not consider himself deeply religious, he said his mother taught him that “God is one,” and he is passing the same lesson on to his children.

“I want my children to follow their own religious traditions, respect other faiths, and celebrate festivals such as Diwali and Christmas,” Saif said, adding that such an upbringing helps foster tolerance, harmony, and mutual respect.

The actor also recalled an incident from his school days, saying he studied at institutions where traditions and festivals of different religions were equally respected. He said the school day began with prayers in a church, and when he once tried to avoid attending because of his own faith, the administration arranged for an Islamic scholar to guide him instead.

Saif said he hopes his sons will perform their religious duties, including offering prayers, while also learning about the beliefs and traditions of other religions and taking part in celebrations of different communities.

Saif Ali Khan married actress Kareena Kapoor in 2012, and the couple have two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan.

He was previously married to actress Amrita Singh in 1991. The couple had two children, actress Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, before separating in 2004.
