PM Shehbaz Sharif Hails First Financial Close of National Airline Privatization as Major Reform Milestone
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the successful completion of the first financial close of the national airline’s privatization agreement, describing it as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing economic reform agenda.
In a statement, the prime minister said, “Alhamdulillah, today marks another important milestone in Pakistan’s journey of economic reforms.”
He said that with the transfer of the airline’s management control to the consortium, a new chapter has begun for the national carrier. According to the prime minister, the development is expected to further strengthen investor confidence in Pakistan.
Shehbaz Sharif commended Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for his role in the process and paid special tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his contributions.
The prime minister also praised Adviser on Privatization Muhammad Ali, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and the Privatization Commission for their efforts in successfully completing the transaction.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to economic reforms, Shehbaz Sharif said the administration would continue implementing bold reform measures aimed at strengthening and stabilizing Pakistan’s economy.
