Punjab Assembly Members Exchange Apologies After Speaker’s Intervention

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Ahsan Raza Khan and opposition member Owais Warraich exchanged apologies during a Punjab Assembly session following the intervention of Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan.

Presiding over the session, the speaker directed Ahsan Raza Khan to withdraw his remarks and apologize to the opposition member. He emphasized that the Punjab Assembly is a house of dignity and respect, adding that inappropriate and hurtful remarks had been made from both sides of the aisle.

Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan urged all lawmakers to exercise restraint and maintain the decorum of the assembly during parliamentary proceedings.

Complying with the speaker’s instructions, Ahsan Raza Khan apologized to Owais Warraich, saying that if his remarks had caused any hurt or offense, he sincerely regretted them.

In response, opposition member Owais Warraich also apologized to the house, stating that he regretted the words he had spoken in the heat of the moment.

The exchange helped ease tensions in the assembly, with both members expressing regret over their remarks and reaffirming respect for parliamentary decorum.
