JI Leader Hidayat Ur Rehman Criticizes Balochistan Security Situation, Says Public Remains Unsafe Despite Massive Budget

Gwadar: Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chief and Member of the Provincial Assembly, Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman Baloch, has expressed grave concern over the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan, alleging that the province has become increasingly unsafe despite billions of rupees allocated for security.

Speaking during meetings with various delegations in Gwadar and Karachi, Hidayat Ur Rehman said Balochistan had been turned into a “no-go area,” where incidents of violence and killings were occurring on a daily basis. He claimed that traders, tourists, travelers, coal transporters, passenger bus operators, students, political workers, and members of religious preaching groups were all vulnerable to attacks.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader held the government, security forces, and state institutions responsible for ensuring public safety, questioning how long authorities would continue claiming that the situation was under control while serious security incidents persisted.

He criticized what he described as the government’s failure to provide adequate protection despite substantial security spending. Referring to the provincial budget, he said more than Rs90 billion had been allocated for public security, while billions more had been spent on Safe City projects and surveillance cameras in Quetta.

“After every incident, the authorities issue statements of condemnation and make promises, but practical measures to protect the public remain inadequate,” he said.

Hidayat Ur Rehman also referred to recent violent incidents in the province, including attacks in which traders and tourists were killed and members of a religious preaching group came under fire. He questioned why those responsible had not yet been brought to justice and claimed that many incidents of violence go unreported.

Calling for lasting solutions, he said the use of force, repeated condemnations, and unfulfilled promises alone could not resolve the province’s challenges. He urged the authorities to ensure peace, protect the rights of the people of Balochistan, and create employment opportunities.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader reiterated that his party would continue to stand with the people of Balochistan against injustice and support efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in the province.
