England Knock Out Defending Champions New Zealand to Reach Women’s T20 World Cup Semi-Finals

Defending champions New Zealand have been eliminated from the Women’s T20 World Cup after suffering a comprehensive nine-wicket defeat to England in their final group-stage match.

Playing at The Oval, New Zealand posted 163/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Melie Kerr top-scored with 42 runs, while Sophie Devine contributed 30 and Izzy Gaze added 28. Danielle Gibson claimed two wickets for England.

In response, England chased down the target with ease, reaching 164/1 in the 18th over. Danni Wyatt-Hodge starred with an unbeaten 89 off 53 balls, smashing 15 fours and a six, while Sophia Dunkley remained unbeaten on 49. The pair shared an unbroken 128-run partnership for the second wicket to seal a dominant victory.

England’s win ended New Zealand’s title defense and secured the elimination of the defending champions from the tournament. Meanwhile, the West Indies advanced to the semi-finals despite losing their final group-stage match against Ireland.
