PTI Issues Show-Cause Notice to MNA Iqbal Afridi Over Alleged Party Discipline Violations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Iqbal Afridi, accusing him of repeatedly violating party discipline and engaging in misconduct toward fellow lawmakers and party staff.

According to the notice, Afridi allegedly behaved disrespectfully toward PTI members of the National Assembly on multiple occasions. The party claimed that his conduct was recorded on camera and widely circulated on television and social media.

The notice further alleges that Afridi used abusive and inappropriate language against fellow lawmakers and consistently acted against decisions taken by the PTI parliamentary party during National Assembly sessions. It also accuses him of displaying disrespectful behavior toward both senior and junior National Assembly staff.

PTI additionally alleged that on June 23, 2026, outside Adiala Jail, Afridi planned an assault on party lawmakers and was personally involved in an attack carried out by one of his associates against a fellow MNA. The party said the lawmakers had gathered outside the jail in support of PTI founder Imran Khan, and claimed that Afridi’s actions directly harmed the party’s objectives.

The notice states that Afridi’s conduct has damaged PTI’s public image and constitutes serious misconduct and a violation of party discipline.

The party has given Afridi seven days to submit a written explanation. It warned that failure to respond could result in the suspension of his basic party membership and possible expulsion from PTI.

Earlier, on June 24, PTI’s parliamentary party suspended Afridi’s parliamentary membership through a unanimous resolution and called for his expulsion from the party. During that meeting, lawmakers strongly condemned his alleged inappropriate behavior toward fellow MNA Sahibzada Sibghatullah and also referred to previous complaints against him before approving the resolution.
