Abducted ASF Deputy Director Found Dead in Balochistan After One Month

QUETTA: The body of an Airports Security Force (ASF) Deputy Director who was abducted nearly a month ago in Balochistan’s Kalat district has been recovered, according to police officials.

Authorities identified the victim as 58-year-old Muhammad Waseem, a resident of Karachi. He was kidnapped on May 20 while traveling from Quetta to Karachi with a colleague.

According to police, the abduction took place near Muhammad Tawa, approximately 40 kilometers from Kalat, where unidentified armed men intercepted their vehicle and took them hostage.

Officials said Muhammad Waseem’s body showed signs of torture. The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated.

Following the kidnapping, a case was registered at a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station, and a large-scale search operation was launched involving police, the CTD, the Frontier Corps (FC), and other law enforcement agencies.

Despite extensive efforts, authorities were unable to secure the release of the abducted officer.

Officials have not yet released further details regarding the recovery of the body, the whereabouts of the second abducted individual, or the identity of those responsible for the kidnapping and killing.

Authorities said additional information and an official government statement are expected as investigations continue.
