Public Transport Fares Reduced by 15% Following Major Fuel Price Cut

LAHORE:** Public transport operators across Pakistan have announced a 15 percent reduction in fares after the government’s significant decrease in petroleum product prices.

The President of the **All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Federation** said the decision to lower fares by 15 percent will take effect immediately, providing relief to commuters nationwide.

The announcement follows the federal government’s decision to substantially reduce fuel prices. Under the revised rates, the price of petrol was cut by **Rs74 per litre**, while diesel prices were reduced by **Rs67 per litre**.

According to the government’s notification, the price of petrol has dropped from **Rs373 per litre to Rs299 per litre**, while diesel has been reduced from **Rs378 per litre to Rs311 per litre**.

Transport operators said the decline in fuel costs made it possible to pass on the benefit to passengers through lower fares. The move is expected to ease transportation expenses for millions of daily commuters and may also help reduce the cost of goods transported across the country.

The fare reduction comes as part of the broader economic impact of the government’s fuel price cuts, which have been welcomed by both consumers and the transport sector.
