Flour Prices Rise Further Across Pakistan, Karachi Residents Paying the Highest Rates

Karachi: Flour prices have increased further across Pakistan, with residents of Karachi facing the highest prices in the country as the cost of a 20-kilogram flour bag has climbed to as much as Rs2,800.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Karachi remains the most expensive city for flour consumers, where the maximum price of a 20kg flour bag has reached Rs2,800.

Peshawar follows closely, with the same quantity of flour selling for up to Rs2,750. In Islamabad, a 20kg flour bag is priced at Rs2,733, while consumers in Rawalpindi are paying up to Rs2,707.

The statistics show that flour prices have also risen in other cities. In Quetta and Bannu, a 20kg bag is being sold for up to Rs2,700, while the price in Hyderabad has reached Rs2,600.

In Khuzdar and Larkana, the maximum price stands at Rs2,400, whereas residents of Faisalabad are paying up to Rs2,350 for a 20kg bag.

Similarly, the price has reached Rs2,333 in Gujranwala, Rs2,267 in Multan, and Rs2,260 in Bahawalpur.

According to the report, a 20kg flour bag is being sold for Rs2,250 in Lahore, while consumers in Sargodha and Sialkot are paying around Rs2,200.

The continued increase in flour prices is expected to add to inflationary pressures on households, particularly lower- and middle-income families, as flour remains a staple food item across the country.
