Quetta Suicide Blast Near Chaman Phatak Kills 16, Injures 30 After Train Targeted

Quetta: A devastating suicide blast near the Chaman Phatak area of Quetta has left at least 16 people dead and 30 others injured, according to police officials and rescue sources.

Law enforcement authorities said the incident occurred when a train passing near the railway track was targeted, causing it to derail.

The explosion was so powerful that its sound was heard across distant parts of the city, and several vehicles parked near the track were badly damaged.

Immediately after the blast, a heavy contingent of security forces and emergency rescue teams rushed to the site with ambulances to assist the victims.

Initial investigations and police statements suggest that the explosion was carried out by a suicide attacker. Authorities said preliminary evidence indicates that the train was deliberately targeted near Chaman Phatak.

Following the blast, intense firing was also reported in the area, creating panic among rescue workers and local residents. Security forces later secured the area and cordoned it off.

Rescue officials confirmed that 16 people have been killed so far, while 30 others have sustained serious injuries. Eight bodies have been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta, while the remaining victims and injured have been moved to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Hospital sources said several injured individuals are in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise further.
