Quetta Explosion Near Chaman Phatak Leaves 16 Dead, Over 30 Injured as Train Passes Through Area

Quetta: A powerful explosion near the Chaman Phatak area of Quetta has shaken the city, with the blast being heard across multiple parts of the metropolis. Nearby residential areas reported shattered windows, broken doors, and damage to buildings due to the intensity of the explosion.

According to initial reports, the blast occurred while a train was passing through the area, after which fire broke out near the railway track. Security forces, police, rescue teams, and fire brigade units rushed to the site immediately following the incident.

Authorities have confirmed that at least 16 people have been killed and more than 30 others injured in the explosion. The victims reportedly include a large number of women and children. Eight bodies have been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta, while several injured individuals are receiving emergency medical treatment.

The explosion also caused damage to vehicles parked near the railway track.

Babur Yousafzai, Special Assistant on Interior for Balochistan, said that information is being collected to determine the nature of the incident and all relevant departments have been placed on high alert. He urged citizens to avoid gathering near the site to ensure that rescue operations are not obstructed.
