5% Sales Tax Mandatory on Real Estate Transactions and Rentals, Registration and Timely Returns Required: BRA

**Quetta:** The Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) has directed individuals and firms providing services related to the purchase, sale, or rental of immovable property to immediately complete their registration with the authority and submit their tax returns on time for each tax period.

According to BRA, under the amended Balochistan Sales Tax on Services (BSTS) Act 2015 through the Finance Act 2025, a 5% sales tax is applicable on services provided for real estate transactions or rentals. Real estate agents, property dealers, and related service providers are required to ensure payment of tax at the prescribed rate and submit their tax returns promptly.

The authority warned that failure to register, pay the tax, or submit returns on time may result in penalties and legal action under the BSTS Act 2015. BRA urged all concerned parties to fully comply with tax laws to avoid any legal complications or fines.
