Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo Death Toll Rises to 131, WHO Declares Global Emergency

KINSHASA: The death toll from the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 131, according to international media reports, as the disease continues to spread rapidly across affected regions.
Health authorities confirmed that 26 additional deaths have recently been reported, raising concerns over the accelerating transmission of the virus in the country.
The World Health Organization has declared a global emergency in response to the worsening outbreak, warning that urgent international coordination is required to contain the spread.
Officials and media reports indicate that limited access to basic healthcare services is significantly hampering early detection and treatment efforts, further complicating containment measures.
In a related development, Jordan has imposed travel restrictions on passengers arriving from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, according to state media, in an effort to prevent the potential spread of the virus to its territory.
