CM KP clashes verbally with Islamabad Police while attempting to meet Imran Khan

RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi exchanged heated words with Islamabad Police after being stopped at 26 Number Chungi while attempting to visit jailed PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
During the confrontation, the chief minister questioned police officials for blocking his movement, saying, “Are you trying to divide Pakistan? Why are you stopping the representative of 45 million people?”
Sohail Afridi repeatedly demanded that the road be opened, while PTI workers accompanying him chanted slogans of “Shame, shame” against the authorities.
Police placed containers and barriers at 26 Number Chungi, causing severe traffic disruption in the area. Travelers arriving from the airport reportedly faced major inconvenience, while long queues of vehicles formed on the motorway due to continuous traffic blockages.
Meanwhile, the scheduled meeting time for the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail expired without any family member reaching the jail for a meeting. According to the official meeting list, names including Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja, Changez Khan Kakar, Intizar Panjutha, Ali Rehman, and Ali Ejaz Butt had been submitted.
It is noteworthy that last week Sohail Afridi had warned of adopting a strict stance if he was not allowed to meet the PTI founder.
Earlier, the district administration had declared the area around Adiala Jail a red zone. Political caravans, rallies, and protests outside the jail have been banned, while authorities warned that legal action would be taken against violations of Section 144.
The PTI founder’s sisters and Sohail Afridi had also called on party workers to gather outside Adiala Jail today.
