Pakistan Introduces Unified Character Certificate System for First Time

Islamabad: The Ministry of Interior has taken a major step towards digital governance by introducing a unified system for police character certificates across the country for the first time.
According to officials, citizens will now no longer need to obtain separate character certificates from different provinces. Instead, the service will be centralized under the National Police Bureau.
Under the new system, all records from the four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, have been integrated into a single national database.
Authorities said the move marks the first time Pakistan has developed a unified national-level system for character verification. The National Police Bureau will now maintain a centralized record of citizens, allowing character certificates to be issued from one platform across the country.
Officials added that citizens will also be able to apply for police character certificates online from home, significantly simplifying the verification process.
The government stated that the initiative will streamline police verification procedures by connecting all provincial records to a central database, making the system faster, more efficient, and digitally integrated.
