Eid-ul-Adha 2026: Government Employees Likely to Get Five Holidays

ISLAMABAD: Government employees in Pakistan are likely to receive up to five holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha 2026, according to the federal government’s annual calendar.
The official 2026 calendar suggests that Eid-ul-Adha holidays may fall on May 27, 28, and 29 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). If the weekly holidays of Saturday and Sunday are added, employees could enjoy a continuous five-day break.
The extended holiday period is expected to benefit employees traveling to their hometowns to celebrate the religious festival with their families.
However, officials clarified that the final decision and formal notification will be issued only after the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon. Traditionally, the final announcement of Eid holidays is made in line with the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
