Salim Shaheed Thalassemia Centre Inaugurated at Quetta Hospital

Quetta: A new Thalassemia treatment centre, established with the collaboration of Umme Sana Foundation, has been formally inaugurated at Alkhidmat Hospital on Brewery Road by Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan leader and Member of Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Jamaat-e-Islami Central Deputy Secretary General Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi, Alkhidmat Foundation Balochistan President Abdul Majeed Sarbazai, Dr. Naatullah, Abdul Naim Rind, as well as social and welfare activists and a large number of young volunteers.
During the event, 15 young donors also contributed blood for children suffering from thalassemia, reflecting strong community participation in the humanitarian initiative.
Speaking at the occasion, Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch said that thalassemia is a serious hereditary disease, and raising public awareness along with promoting pre-marriage screening is essential to prevent its spread.
He praised Alkhidmat Foundation for its continued welfare work in Balochistan despite limited resources, stating that the newly established centre would serve as a major facility for patients across the province.
He also urged young people to regularly donate blood and called on the government to establish modern healthcare centres for thalassemia treatment in Balochistan.
Later, the dignitaries visited different sections of the hospital and reviewed the medical facilities being provided to patients.
