Wasim Akram Ends Debate on Karachi vs Lahore Food, Calls It a Tie with a Twist

Karachi: Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has finally weighed in on the long-running debate over whether food in Karachi or Lahore is better, saying both cities have their own unique strengths.
In a video shared on X, the legendary fast bowler said he had been watching the heated social media discussion where people were “fighting over food, as if swords and weapons have come out.”
Akram said he was born in Lahore, lived there for 42 years, and has been residing in Karachi for the past 14 years.
The 59-year-old cricketer added that during the recent PSL final in Lahore, he revisited his favorite food spots, enjoying traditional dishes like channa chaat and chapli-style snacks, along with mutton chops ordered from a hotel.

He jokingly said that he has seen claims that Karachi food is “just okay,” referring to comments made in public discussions, but decided to “end the debate once and for all.”
Akram noted that Lahore does have excellent food spots, but Karachi offers far greater variety due to its diverse population representing multiple cultures and cuisines.
He further remarked that spices in Lahore food have increased over time, adding humorously that “Lahoris don’t actually eat that much spice.”
Concluding his remarks, Wasim Akram said Karachi stands out for food variety, while Lahore is known for its strong traditional taste, effectively ending the ongoing rivalry with a balanced verdict.
