IMF Executive Board Meeting Today, Pakistan Likely to Receive $1.2 Billion Tranche

Islamabad: The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to meet today in Washington to review the recommendations of its recent review mission regarding Pakistan’s loan program.
According to sources, the IMF Board will decide on the next tranche of the lending program after the review. If approved, Pakistan is expected to receive approximately $1.2 billion within the next two days.
Sources said the expected disbursement includes $1 billion under the loan program and an additional $200 million for climate change-related assistance aimed at helping Pakistan deal with the impacts of environmental challenges.
Pakistani officials remain optimistic that the next installment of the IMF program will be approved.
If the tranche is released, the total disbursement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) will reach approximately $3.3 billion. Pakistan has already received $2.1 billion under the EFF program and climate resilience support.
It is worth noting that Pakistan’s loan program was approved in September 2024 for a period of 37 months.
