NADRA Launches ‘Nishan Pakistan’ Portal for Secure Identity Verification and Digital Transactions

Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new digital platform, Nishan Pakistan, aimed at strengthening secure identity verification services and promoting Pakistan’s digital economy.
According to a spokesperson, NADRA operates under Section 7 of the NADRA Ordinance 2000, which authorizes it to maintain the national database and provide identity verification services to government institutions and regulated private-sector entities for lawful purposes.
Under its legal mandate and in accordance with the NADRA (Data Sharing) Regulations 2025 and NADRA (Identity Verification) Regulations 2026, the authority has introduced Nishan Pakistan as a modernized digital system to streamline identity verification services across the country.
Previously, identity verification services were provided partially through various digital methods, often involving complex procedures, lengthy documentation, and repeated approvals. This resulted in delays and concerns regarding transparency.
To address these challenges, NADRA has launched the Nishan Pakistan web portal, offering a centralized online platform for government departments and regulated private institutions. The portal provides services including registration, subscription, and secure access to identity verification tools in compliance with legal and data protection standards.
Through the platform, banks, microfinance institutions, electronic money institutions, non-banking financial institutions, telecom companies, and other regulated entities will be able to access NADRA’s services more efficiently. Registered organizations will have access to features such as multi-biometric verification APIs (fingerprint and facial recognition), Verisys, Proof of Life API, and Single Sign-On (SSO).
The initiative is expected to ensure faster, safer, and fully digital access to identity verification services, while maintaining the highest standards of data protection and privacy. Officials say it will enhance public trust in digital systems and contribute to the growth of a secure and reliable digital economy.
Launched under the Government of Pakistan’s Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), the Nishan Pakistan portal aligns with national priorities related to financial inclusion and e-governance. It is particularly significant for public institutions managing social welfare and public service programs, where timely and accurate identity verification is essential, as well as for private-sector entities requiring reliable identity authentication in daily operations.
Further details regarding registration and subscription are available on the Nishan Pakistan web portal.
