Quetta: A political gathering was held in Quetta on the occasion of International Labour Day under the auspices of Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party at the Quetta Press Club, reaffirming a commitment to resistance against what leaders described as “imperialist exploitation.”
The event was chaired by party provincial president Nasrullah Khan Zarey and attended by party leaders, representatives of the Pashtunkhwa Students Organization, political and social activists, labourers, students, and citizens from various walks of life.
Speakers including senior leader Syed Qadir Agha Advocate, provincial secretary Khushhal Kakar, office secretary Nida Singer, PSO provincial secretary Waris Afghan, Dr. Samad Khan Panezai, Prof. Dr. Kaleemullah Khan Bareech, and Rahmatullah Sabir highlighted the historical and revolutionary significance of May 1.
They said the sacrifices of the Chicago workers laid the foundation for the eight-hour workday and proved that organized working classes can challenge systems of exploitation. The speakers criticized the global capitalist system, alleging continued control over resources of poor nations and oppressed communities, leading to economic instability and deprivation.
They further stated that the region of “Pashtun homeland” has long suffered from conflict, oppression, and economic hardship. The leaders emphasized that true liberation and justice can only be achieved through the organized struggle of workers, farmers, students, and oppressed nations.
The gathering concluded with tributes to the martyrs of Chicago and all those who sacrificed for workers’ rights. The event ended with slogans in support of labour unity.
