IG Police Muhammad Tahir Highlights 2025 Achievements: Terror Attacks Thwarted, 14,200 Crimes Reported in Balochistan

**Quetta:** Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has outlined the province’s police performance for 2025, emphasizing successful counter-terrorism operations and overall law enforcement achievements. Speaking at a press conference, he said that despite facing serious security challenges, the Balochistan Police effectively prevented several major terrorist attacks, safeguarding lives and government property.
IG Tahir noted that the rise in terror incidents this year was largely due to the changing security situation following the withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan. Nevertheless, major attacks and road blockages in cities such as Quetta and Gwadar significantly decreased. Police interventions in areas including Jhal Magsi, Gandawah, Panjgur, Washuk, and Mashkay successfully foiled attacks on police stations.
He highlighted the implementation of SOPs for sensitive operations, enhanced public outreach programs, optimized deployment of personnel, and focused resource allocation. Police training was prioritized to tackle emerging challenges, and for the first time, an Internal Accountability Center was established to curb corruption and misuse of authority within the force. The provision of bulletproof vehicles further strengthened field security for officers.
IG Tahir also revealed plans to establish specialized police schools for investigation and training in the coming months. A comprehensive security plan for Quetta, including joint check posts and inter-agency cooperation, has been put in place. The Special Crime Investigation Wing successfully resolved numerous high-profile and cold cases, demonstrating professional capabilities.
Concluding the press conference, Muhammad Tahir stated that a total of 14,200 criminal incidents were reported across Balochistan in 2025—a figure lower than the crime recorded in just one major city of other provinces. He reaffirmed the Balochistan Police’s commitment to continue protecting citizens and maintaining law and order.
