Major Breakthrough for Balochistan’s Development: Quetta Expo Center Project Approved, Second State-of-the-Art Center Near Airport Announced

Islamabad/Quetta (Daily Qudrat News) – In a historic step toward Balochistan’s economic growth and promotion of trade, the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce has formally approved the Quetta Expo Center project. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Senator Anusha Rehman, with Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, attending in person. Senators Faisal Saleem Rehman, Amir Wali-ud-Din Chishti, Saleem Mandviwala, Rahat Jamali, and, via video link, Sarmad Ali and Bilal Ahmed Khan also participated.

During the meeting, the importance of the Quetta Expo Center was emphasized, and Chief Minister Bugti provided a comprehensive briefing on the project’s progress. Addressing security concerns raised regarding the proposed site, Bugti stated unequivocally that Quetta, like other major cities in Pakistan, is fully secure. He noted that the selected location is near an operational industrial zone and has already been approved by the Planning Commission after a detailed security review. He stressed that any further delay would not serve the province’s interests.

Committee members raised questions about the site’s distance from the airport, accessibility for international delegates, and the project’s long-term financial sustainability. In response, Bugti proposed that the current Expo Center project continue at its planned location while a second state-of-the-art Expo Center would be established near Quetta Airport to facilitate business and foreign delegations. He assured that the final site for this second center would be determined in consultation with the Balochistan Cabinet, Senate Committee members, and the Quetta Chamber of Commerce.

The Senate Standing Committee unanimously agreed with the Chief Minister’s proposal, recognizing it as essential for Balochistan’s economic self-reliance, and formally approved the Quetta Expo Center project, hailing it as a milestone for the province’s development.
