Saqlain Mushtaq Shares Heartwarming Story Behind Daughter’s Marriage to Shadab Khan
Islamabad: Former Pakistan cricketer and ex-national team coach Saqlain Mushtaq has shared an interesting and heartwarming story about how his daughter’s marriage with star all-rounder Shadab Khan was arranged.
According to Saqlain Mushtaq, the proposal came unexpectedly while he was in Karachi. “My wife came to visit me and told me that Shadab’s mother had sent a marriage proposal for our daughter. I was surprised and initially thought it couldn’t be true,” he said.
He added that upon returning to Islamabad, Shadab Khan’s parents visited his home the very next day. “They were very respectable and family-oriented people. Seeing Shadab’s mother reminded me of my own mother,” he recalled.

Saqlain further shared that during the visit, Shadab’s mother took off her ring and handed it to him, which was then placed on his daughter’s finger, marking their engagement. “The engagement happened right there, and later I solemnized the nikah at home,” he said.
Interestingly, he noted that on the day of the nikah, there was a nationwide power outage across Pakistan. The rukhsati (departure ceremony) took place about a week later, completing the simple yet memorable wedding arrangements.
