Gas Crisis Worsens in Lahore as RLNG Supply Drops Sharply

Lahore: The gas crisis has intensified due to the non-arrival and declining availability of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG), according to sources in Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.
Sources said that existing RLNG reserves are depleting rapidly, forcing gas supply to the power and fertilizer sectors to be reduced to the lowest levels. Domestic consumers have also reportedly faced cuts in supply.
According to the sources, total gas supply has dropped to around 700 million cubic feet per day, compared to 1,200 million cubic feet per day before the Iran–U.S. conflict situation escalated. The gas shortfall has now exceeded 600 million cubic feet.
However, Sui Gas officials have stated that gas is being supplied during all three main meal times for domestic consumers, attempting to ensure availability during peak household usage hours.
The situation highlights ongoing pressure on Pakistan’s energy sector amid fluctuating RLNG imports and rising demand.
