Over 1.2 million tourists visited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during Eid-ul-Adha: Information Minister

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Minister Shafi Jan has said that more than 1.26 million tourists visited the province during Eid-ul-Adha holidays, reflecting a strong trend of domestic and foreign tourism in the region.
In a video message along with Special Assistant for Tourism and Culture Malik Adil Iqbal, the minister welcomed the record influx of visitors and said that whether Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-ul-Adha, tourists from across Pakistan as well as abroad continue to visit the scenic destinations of the province.
He said the provincial government is taking concrete steps to provide better facilities to tourists, adding that the growing number of visitors is proof that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not only rich in natural beauty but also among the safest tourist destinations in the country.
Officials said that from May 27 to May 31, a total of 1,267,568 tourists visited various tourist spots across the province, including approximately 200 foreign tourists.
Among major destinations, the highest number of visitors was recorded in Swat Valley with 416,794 tourists, followed by Naran Valley with 187,954 and Galiyat with 148,828 visitors.
Officials further stated that in merged districts, 394,682 tourists visited various locations. South Waziristan received around 144,000 tourists, while Orakzai District recorded 92,112 visitors.
Tourism officials estimated that the surge in tourist activity generated approximately 8 to 12 billion rupees in revenue for the province. They said the record influx reflects public confidence in the government’s tourism-friendly policies, improved arrangements, and the services of the tourism police, contributing to both the tourism sector and the local economy.
