Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Calls Grand Pashtun Jirga Essential Amid Current Crisis
Quetta: Leaders of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) have said that a Grand Pashtun National Jirga is essential to address the challenges facing the Pashtun community amid the country’s current political and security situation.
According to the party, the jirga announced by its chairman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, will be held in Quetta on August 29, 30, and 31, 2026, with preparations already underway.
Speaking at separate party gatherings in Quetta, PkMAP leaders urged Pashtuns to set aside personal disputes and differences and demonstrate unity, saying that only a united nation can overcome difficult circumstances and safeguard its rights.
The party reiterated its opposition to terrorism in all its forms and criticized the government, alleging that it has failed to protect the lives and property of citizens. PkMAP leaders also claimed that law and order had deteriorated across the province, citing curfews in several districts and incidents of robbery, kidnapping, violence, and insecurity on highways.
The speakers further alleged that the current administration, which they referred to as the “Form-47 government,” had failed to address the country’s challenges and called on it to resign.
The remarks were made during separate public meetings organized by the party’s Quetta district chapters in Sadr Tehsil and Kuchlak, where a total of 93 people joined the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. Party leaders welcomed the new members, describing their decision as timely and saying it would strengthen the party’s democratic and political movement.
