Global Volleyball Body Revokes Recognition of Indian Federation Over Governance Violations

The international governing body for volleyball, Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), has revoked the recognition of the Volleyball Federation of India over alleged legal and administrative violations.

According to Indian media reports, the decision follows concerns regarding governance issues within the federation. The situation intensified after two senior players reportedly left a national training camp, citing inadequate, unscientific facilities and alleged political interference in the selection process.

Reports indicate that FIVB has tasked the current steering committee in India with continuing operations while ensuring better management of the sport and safeguarding player welfare.

Despite withdrawing formal recognition from the federation, the global body has allowed the steering committee to continue functioning in order to maintain continuity in volleyball activities within the country.
