White House Confirms JD Vance Will Not Travel to Pakistan for Talks

The White House has confirmed that U.S. Vice President JD Vance will not travel to Pakistan today for negotiations linked to rising regional tensions.
Earlier reports in U.S. media had suggested that the visit was postponed due to a lack of response from Iran regarding participation in the proposed talks. However, officials familiar with the matter indicated that the visit could be rescheduled at any time, depending on diplomatic developments.
On the Iranian side, authorities have also signaled caution. Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated in an interview with a local news channel that no final decision has been made about sending a delegation to Islamabad for negotiations.
He emphasized that Iran would only decide to participate once there are indications that the talks could produce meaningful results.
The uncertainty surrounding both the U.S. vice president’s visit and Iran’s participation highlights ongoing challenges in initiating dialogue, despite efforts to ease tensions and move toward a diplomatic solution.
