PM Shehbaz Sharif Thanks Trump for Ceasefire Extension, Hopes for Peace Talks in Islamabad

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for accepting a request to extend the ceasefire related to tensions with Iran.
In a statement shared on social media, the prime minister said he was thankful to President Trump for agreeing to the request made jointly by himself and Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, to halt potential military action against Iran until diplomatic efforts progress.
Sharif expressed hope that the involved parties would succeed in finalizing a comprehensive “peace deal” during a second round of negotiations expected to take place in Islamabad. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to pursuing a negotiated resolution to conflicts and reiterated optimism that all sides would continue to respect the ceasefire.

Earlier, President Trump had announced on social media that the United States would pause any attack on Iran following the request from Pakistan’s leadership. He stated that the ceasefire would remain in place until Iran presents a unified proposal and talks move forward.
The developments come amid heightened regional tensions, with diplomatic efforts ongoing to prevent further escalation and seek a lasting resolution.
