Abbottabad: Lady Doctor Murdered by Friend Over Return of Gold Jewelry

Abbottabad: The body of Lady Doctor Warda Mushtaq, who was abducted four days ago from Benazir Shaheed District Hospital, has been recovered from a remote hilly area on Thandiani Road, Lari Banota, police said.

According to police, Dr. Warda had gone to retrieve approximately 67 tolas of gold jewelry she had entrusted to her friend, Rida, since 2023. The friend allegedly took Dr. Warda to her under-construction house and handed her over to two other suspects, Aurangzeb and Nadeem, who later killed her in the Lari Banota area. The body was recovered based on the directions of Rida and Nadeem and shifted to DHQ Hospital for further investigation.

Police are continuing their investigation into the case. Meanwhile, doctors and staff at Benazir Shaheed Hospital staged a protest against the abduction and murder, leading to the suspension of all hospital services. The protest spilled onto the streets at Fawara Chowk, blocking traffic, with demonstrators chanting slogans against the police and condemning their alleged negligence.

Dr. Asfandyar, Provincial President of the Young Doctors Association, stated that the Abbottabad incident reflects the failure of the provincial government. He criticized the Health Department and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for doing nothing to recover the missing doctor over four days. He added that all OPD services across the province will be boycotted and called for widespread protests against the provincial government.
