Pakistan Is Our Home, Not Property of Feudal Lords or Bureaucrats: Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Lahore: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), has said that Pakistan belongs to its people and is not the property of feudal lords or bureaucrats.

Speaking at a seminar held at the Alhamra Arts Council (Iqbal Auditorium) in memory of renowned humorist and poet Syed Salman Gilani, he said that the gathering was organized to honor the late literary figure who had left a lasting impact on society.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman remarked that some individuals in this world live not for themselves but for the wider community, and the loss of such personalities creates a sense of collective grief.

He paid tribute to Salman Gilani’s literary contributions, saying he inherited a rich poetic tradition from his father, Syed Ameen Gilani, and described himself as fortunate to have received guidance from the elder Gilani.

Recalling past religious and political movements, he said that scholars made great sacrifices for the protection of the doctrine of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, and he himself had participated in the 1974 movement. He added that he had also spent time in jail in Multan during that struggle.

He further stated that the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat declaration is part of Pakistan’s parliamentary record and emphasized that the mission of those who have passed away must be continued.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Pakistan was created in the name of Islam, yet, according to him, Islamic principles have not been fully implemented even after decades. He also claimed that the country continues to face pressure from the Western world.

Concluding his speech, he reiterated that Pakistan is a shared homeland and a matter of honor for its people, not the exclusive possession of any elite class.
