ECP Issues Order in PTI Intra-Party Election Case, Final Arguments Set for April 22

Islamabad:The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a formal order in the PTI intra-party election case, outlining the proceedings and timeline of the case so far. According to the order, a notice was issued to the respondent on April 23, 2024, while the case was first scheduled for hearing on April 30, 2023.

The order reveals that the case has undergone 12 hearings to date, during which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) requested adjournments on eight different occasions, citing various grounds. The ECP granted these adjournments in the interest of justice.

The commission further noted that PTI itself approached the Lahore High Court and obtained a ruling nearly a year ago. However, the High Court did not issue any stay order preventing the ECP from continuing proceedings in the case.

The ECP has made it clear that it will continue the hearing of the intra-party election case and will issue a final verdict once all proceedings are concluded.

The order instructs all parties to complete their final arguments and rebuttals during the next hearing scheduled for April 22, 2024.
