PTI Lawyers Disrupt GHQ Attack Case Hearing; Contempt Notice Issued by ATC Judge

During the hearing of the GHQ attack case at Adiala Jail, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers caused a disruption through loud protests and sloganeering. The session was presided over by Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Amjad Ali Shah.
Due to the commotion, the testimonies of two witnesses could not be recorded. However, the statement of one witness, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Riaz, who is also the complainant in the case, was successfully documented.
The judge expressed strong displeasure over the disorderly conduct of the defense lawyers and issued a show-cause notice for contempt of court. PTI’s legal team also insisted on summoning senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja during the proceedings, which drew objections from the prosecution.
PTI founder Imran Khan was also presented in court during the hearing. Following the incident, the judge adjourned the hearing until June 21.
So far, statements of 31 witnesses have been recorded in the case. The GHQ attack case includes both central and local leadership of PTI among the accused. A total of 118 individuals, including PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Sheikh Rashid, and others, have been formally charged.
