NATO Not Intended for Military Action in Strait of Hormuz: France’s Junior Defense Minister

Islamabad (April 1, 2026): France’s Junior Minister for Armed Forces, Agnès Roufosse, stated that NATO was not created to conduct military operations in the Strait of Hormuz and that any such activity would violate international law.

Speaking in Paris, Roufosse emphasized that NATO is a military alliance focused on the security of the Euro-Atlantic region. She warned that deploying NATO forces for operations in the strategic waterway would be outside the alliance’s mandate and contrary to international legal frameworks.
