Complete Ban on Firearms in Balochistan: Interior Minister Pledges Strict Action Against Terrorists

Quetta (Daily Qudrat News) – Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove announced a complete ban on possession of weapons in the province, emphasizing that the government will not compromise on law and order. The declaration came during a press conference at the Civil Secretariat in Quetta, attended by Additional Chief Secretary Interior Muhammad Hamza Shafqat and Assistant to the Interior Minister Babar Yousafzai.

Minister Langove stated that indiscriminate action against terrorists will continue, and the government will pursue every terrorist to their last hideout, prioritizing the safety of citizens. He said, under the Chief Minister’s special directives, no individual in the province, except state institutions, will be allowed to possess firearms, and official orders have been issued to enforce this measure.

He highlighted that enemy elements and anti-Pakistan forces are attempting to destabilize the country, exploiting children, women, and youth for terrorist activities, a practice he condemned as unacceptable. He also questioned global human rights organizations on the permissibility of such exploitation of innocent individuals.

Langove further noted that the security of mosques, schools, and security forces is affected by the situation in neighboring Afghanistan, citing incidents in Quetta on January 11 as examples. He emphasized that the government is simultaneously addressing terrorism, unemployment, healthcare access, and educational scholarships, reflecting Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s commitment to Balochistan’s development.

Assistant Minister Babar Yousafzai provided updates on recent incidents, reporting that a civilian was killed and 11 injured in Quetta due to terrorist activity last night. Security forces successfully foiled major attacks in Mastung and Jhal Magsi, killing one terrorist and injuring two during operations in Jhal Magsi.

The minister concluded that despite the province facing extraordinary challenges and external involvement, state institutions are prepared to take every measure to ensure lasting peace and security in Balochistan.
