Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Accuses Federal Government of Misrepresenting Qasim Khan, Blames Islamabad for GSP Plus and Economic Issues

Islamabad: Mohammad Sohail Afridi strongly criticized the Federal Government of Pakistan, claiming that statements made by Qasim Khan were deliberately politicized and misrepresented.
Speaking at an emergency press conference at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, CM Afridi stated that Qasim Khan’s remarks were purely emotional expressions concerning his father’s health and well-being, and had no political connotation. He emphasized that a formal Urdu translation of the conversation proves the comments were misused by the federal government in connection with Pakistan’s GSP Plus status.
Addressing the situation of PTI founder’s wife, CM Afridi highlighted that Bushra Bibi is reportedly facing severe discomfort in her eyes and is being treated unfairly in jail.
CM Afridi also criticized the federal government for its environmental policies, stating that Islamabad itself is responsible for undermining ecological protection, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has been planting trees beyond its requirements and targets. He further alleged that violations of GSP Plus environmental and other conditions are being caused by the federal authorities themselves.
On the economic front, Afridi expressed concern over the country’s trade deficit, claiming that if local industries were functioning effectively, the deficit would not have reached its current level. He concluded that due to poor federal policies, farmers, students, and ordinary citizens across Pakistan are facing severe difficulties.
